Release Details

Dammit Boy Mixtape Vol. 1: Gangsta’s Zone by Compton Cisco

Dammit Boy Mixtape Vol. 1: Gangsta’s Zone is the first official release in the Dammit Boy Mixtape Series and one of the most significant projects in the history of Dammit Boy Productions. Released during the MySpace era, the project marked the beginning of a new independent movement after the founding members departed Grim Reality Entertainment to establish their own creative direction under the Dammit Boy Productions banner.

Presented by Compton Cisco, the 21-track mixtape brought together many respected voices from the West Coast underground while introducing the core foundation that would become Dammit Boy Productions. The release features performances from Compton Cisco, Tre Dizzle, FЯK$, Daddy V, RBX, WC, Insane Poetry, JP Tha Hustler, Lowdown, Spark, Teiko, and several additional collaborators, showcasing the collective chemistry that helped define the label’s early identity.

The records, “Give It To You” and “Welcome To Compton City,” immediately establish Compton Cisco’s commanding street presence while introducing listeners to the world of Gangsta’s Zone. One of the project’s standout moments is “Discography” by FЯK$, a lyrical tribute to classic hip-hop culture that celebrated the legends who inspired the next generation of independent artists.

The mixtape also preserves an important piece of underground hip-hop history by including an original Dammit Boy Mixtape recording of “Heartless” by Insane Poetry, giving fans a rare recording from one of horrorcore’s most respected pioneers. Another highlight is “Up In The Street,” featuring Compton Cisco alongside Teiko and Daddy V, while the collaborative anthem “We Got It” reunites members of the former Grim Reality Entertainment family, including Lowdown, Spark, Insane Poetry, Compton Cisco, JP Tha Hustler, Tre Dizzle, and FЯK$.

Distributed through physical CD sales during the height of the independent mixtape movement, Gangsta’s Zone was sold directly from car trunks, live events, and street promotions throughout Moreno Valley, San Diego, Orange County, and surrounding Southern California markets. The grassroots approach embodied the independent spirit that defined underground hip-hop during the mid-2000s and helped establish Dammit Boy Productions as an emerging force.

More than just a mixtape, Gangsta’s Zone became the foundation for what would evolve into the long-running Dammit Boy Mixtape Series and the continued growth of Dammit Boy Productions into an independent music, media, and artist development company. Nearly two decades later, the project remains an important chapter in the DBP legacy, documenting the beginning of a movement built on loyalty, creative freedom, collaboration, and authentic West Coast hip-hop culture.
