A C.Y.G. Story is the sixth installment in the Dammit Boy Mixtape Series, presented by Houston recording artist Cool Tony and released by Dammit Boy Productions on September 27, 2013. The 20-track mixtape was distributed digitally through DatPiff and manufactured as a physical CD, documenting another chapter in the independent recording history of Dammit Boy Productions.
The entire project was recorded, mixed and directed by Gregg Brinkley, professionally known as Tre Dizzle, for Dammit Boy Productions. Tre Dizzle oversaw the recording sessions, mixing and overall project direction, working with Cool Tony to assemble the complete 20-track release.
The mixtape features contributions from several artists connected to the Dammit Boy Productions recording community, including Tre Dizzle, Jah’s Reflection (historically credited as J.R.), FЯK$ (credited as Freaks), Senny Bennett, S.B. and Drell $waggar.
Among the collaborations are “Hustle The Hardest,” featuring Drell $waggar and Jah’s Reflection; “Big Bootie Bitches,” featuring FЯK$; “Weed Song,” featuring Jah’s Reflection; and “Roll Another One,” featuring Senny Bennett and Tre Dizzle.
In addition to the original DatPiff digital release, A C.Y.G. Story was issued on a professionally manufactured physical CD. Dammit Boy Productions outsourced the CD pressing while retaining creative control over the project’s presentation.
Gregg Brinkley personally designed the complete original CD artwork package, including the front cover, interior artwork, back-cover J-card and printed disc design.
The interior artwork also promoted the first five installments of the Dammit Boy Mixtape Series, connecting A C.Y.G. Story to the earlier releases by Compton Cisco, Tre Dizzle, FЯK$ and Jah’s Reflection.
The original 20-track audio collection and four original print-production artwork files survive in the Dammit Boy Productions archive. The preserved audio files contain historical metadata identifying Cool Tony as the primary artist, the 2013 release year and the original track sequence.
A C.Y.G. Story represents the sixth documented installment of the Dammit Boy Mixtape Series and preserves Cool Tony’s work alongside the artists and collaborators associated with Dammit Boy Productions during this period.
