Cool Tony

Cool Tony, born Tony Richardson in Birmingham, Alabama, was a Houston-based hip-hop artist and former member of Dammit Boy Productions. Known personally as Coolie, he performed under several professional names throughout his career, including Coolie High and Coolie Wit Da K. His documented musical history includes studio recordings, independent releases, and live performances during his association with DBP in 2013.

Early Life and Musical Background

Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Richardson later relocated to Houston, Texas, where he became involved in the local independent hip-hop scene. Before joining Dammit Boy Productions, he was known professionally as Coolie High, while friends and associates commonly called him Coolie.

Details about his earliest recordings, musical influences, and initial entry into the music industry remain limited. However, his time in Houston eventually connected him with the artists and producers working through Dammit Boy Productions.

Joining Dammit Boy Productions

Richardson’s introduction to the company came through fellow recording artist J.R., professionally known as Jah’s Reflection. J.R. knew Tony’s cousin, Senny Bennet, and brought both men to Dammit Boy Studios around 2013.

That meeting began a working relationship with Tre Dizzle, founder of Dammit Boy Productions. During this period, Richardson adopted the professional name Cool Tony and became one of the company’s recording artists.

The collaboration developed into studio recording sessions, an official mixtape release, and live performance opportunities organized under the DBP banner.

A C.Y.G. Story (2013)

On September 27, 2013, Richardson released Cool Tony Presents A C.Y.G. Story as Volume 6 of the Dammit Boy Mixtape Series.

The 20-track project was recorded, mixed, and directed entirely by Tre Dizzle. Originally distributed on physical CD and through DatPiff, the release documented an important chapter in Richardson’s recording career.

C.Y.G. stood for “Crazy Young Gangsters,” giving the project its expanded title, A Crazy Young Gangsters Story. The phrase represented the mixtape’s identity rather than a separate musical group.

The project remains part of the official Dammit Boy Productions release catalog and serves as a surviving record of Richardson’s work with the company.

Live Performances and Collaborations

During 2013, Richardson participated in live performances booked under the Dammit Boy Productions name. Tre Dizzle organized these appearances to provide individual recording artists with opportunities to showcase their music throughout Texas.

Archived performances document appearances alongside Jah’s Reflection at The Jet Lounge, Back 2 the Block events in Beaumont, Texas, and Conflict’s Birthday Bash.

Although the two performers appeared together on multiple occasions, they maintained separate careers as solo artists. Their shared appearances reflected DBP’s approach to promoting its roster through collective performance opportunities.

Tre Dizzle frequently documented these events personally, operating the camera when another videographer was unavailable. The resulting footage preserved performances that remain part of the company’s historical video archive.

Later Career and Artist Identity

Following his departure from Dammit Boy Productions, Richardson began using the stage name Coolie Wit Da K.

His progression from Coolie High to Cool Tony and later Coolie Wit Da K reflects distinct periods of his artistic identity. Additional recordings and career activities outside his documented DBP association remain subjects of ongoing archival research.

Legacy

Tony Richardson, affectionately known as Coolie, has since passed away. His contributions to Houston’s independent hip-hop history are preserved through his recordings and surviving performance footage.

His work with Dammit Boy Productions, particularly the 2013 release A C.Y.G. Story, remains part of the company’s historical music catalog.

Through the preservation of his recordings, photographs, and live performances, Richardson’s artistic contributions continue to be documented and remembered as part of the Dammit Boy Productions legacy.
