There Goes tha Neighborhood
Hosted by FЯK$, Dammit Boy Mixtape Vol. 3: There Goes tha Neighborhood represents another major milestone in the early history of Dammit Boy Productions. As the third installment of the Dammit Boy Mixtape Series, the project documents a period when the label had grown beyond its founding circle and was becoming a recognizable force within the Southern California underground hip-hop community.
By the time Volume 3 was released, Dammit Boy Productions had evolved from an independent collaboration into a movement built on artist development, creative freedom, live performances, and authentic underground music. Through street promotion, networking, physical CD distribution, and consistent releases, the label continued expanding its reach while remaining committed to independent hip-hop culture.
Serving as host, FЯK$ brought a darker, more aggressive personality to the mixtape. Known for fearless lyricism, sharp humor, and unapologetic originality, FЯK$ helped shape the project’s identity by delivering performances that challenged listeners while remaining rooted in authentic underground hip-hop. The opening record, “Hot Head,” immediately introduces listeners to the uncompromising attitude and larger-than-life personality that would become synonymous with FЯK$ throughout the Dammit Boy Productions catalog.
The mixtape also showcases the chemistry between the three founding pillars of Dammit Boy Productions—Tre Dizzle, FЯK$, and Compton Cisco—while introducing listeners to the growing network of artists connected to the movement. Their continued collaboration reinforced the label’s vision of building a family of independent artists rather than simply releasing individual projects.
Among the standout collaborations is “The Shit,” featuring Insane Poetry, FЯK$, Compton Cisco, Tre Dizzle, and Teiko. Bringing together several respected voices from the West Coast underground, the record captures the collaborative spirit that defined the early Dammit Boy Productions years.
The project also preserves another piece of underground hip-hop history through the original Dammit Boy Mixtape recording of “Boyz In A Box” by Insane Poetry, giving listeners access to a rare version from one of horrorcore’s pioneering groups.
Another defining record is “What More Can I Say,” featuring Compton Cisco, FЯK$, and Tre Dizzle. More than simply another collaboration, the song serves as a tribute to Southern California hip-hop culture, lowrider tradition, and the communities that helped shape the artists during the early years of Dammit Boy Productions.
One of the mixtape’s most popular records became “Higher,” featuring FЯK$, Compton Cisco, Tre Dizzle, and Teiko. Inspired by the classic Goapole song of the same name, the track celebrates marijuana culture while showcasing the chemistry between the artists. The record became especially popular throughout Southern California and remains one of the standout moments from the early DBP mixtape era.
Containing 22 tracks, Dammit Boy Mixtape Vol. 3: There Goes tha Neighborhood represents a period when Dammit Boy Productions was actively defining its identity through consistency, collaboration, and independent hustle. More than just another mixtape, it documents the growth of a movement that would continue expanding into artist development, live events, media production, merchandise, and a catalog spanning nearly two decades.
Today, Volume 3 remains an essential chapter in the Dammit Boy Productions Legacy Collection, preserving the energy, creativity, and independent spirit that helped establish the label’s reputation within underground hip-hop.
