Roc-D-Mic at Club Yakum

Club Yakum represents an important chapter in the history of Roc-D-Mic and Dammit Boy Productions’ documentation of the recurring Houston showcase.

The June 29 event also produced surviving DBP performance footage featuring Mr. Cap and Piccadilly Boy, providing a broader record of that night at the venue.

DBP Archive

The performance was filmed on June 29, 2014 and originally published to the Dammit Boy Productions YouTube archive on July 12, 2014. It is preserved as part of DBP’s continuing documentation of Houston hip-hop performances, artists, venues and events.

Preserving the Club Yakum Archive

Roc-D-Mic provided a recurring stage for Houston-area independent performers and became part of the live music history documented by Dammit Boy Productions. The Club Yakum recordings preserve individual sets as they happened, including the atmosphere of the venue, interaction between performers and the audience, and the format of the recurring open-mic showcase.

Rather than combining the surviving footage into a single retrospective, DBP preserves these performances as individual archive records. This allows each appearance to remain connected to its original event date, venue, host, related artists and surviving source video.

The June 29, 2014 recordings are part of a larger collection documenting multiple nights of Roc-D-Mic at Club Yakum. Other surviving performances from this date include Mr. Cap and Piccadilly Boy. Together, these recordings provide a broader view of the performers who appeared during this chapter of the series.

About the DBTV Archive

Dammit Boy Productions maintains the DBTV archive to preserve original performance footage, event coverage and other material captured during the company’s involvement in Houston music and entertainment. Historical videos are being cataloged with corrected dates, artist relationships, event information and original publication details so the surviving footage can be explored as part of a connected archive rather than as isolated uploads.

This performance remains connected to the larger Roc-D-Mic Fridays — Club Yakum event record, allowing the individual video to be viewed within the context of the recurring series and the other surviving performances filmed at the venue.
