E-40

Earl “E-40” Stevens is an American rapper, entrepreneur, and record executive from Vallejo, California. Widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in West Coast hip-hop, E-40 helped establish the Bay Area as a major force in rap music through his independent approach to artist development, distribution, and business ownership.

Beginning his career as a member of The Click alongside B-Legit, D-Shot, and Suga-T, E-40 built a loyal fanbase throughout Northern California before expanding nationally. His distinctive flow, creative wordplay, and ability to introduce new slang into popular culture helped separate him from his peers and establish a unique identity within hip-hop.

Over the course of his career, E-40 has released numerous successful albums and collaborated with artists across multiple generations. Beyond music, he has become known for his entrepreneurial ventures in food, beverage, and entertainment industries while continuing to advocate for artist independence and ownership.

Today, E-40 is recognized as one of the most important figures in Bay Area rap history and a pioneer of independent hip-hop business models. His influence extends far beyond music, impacting culture, entrepreneurship, and artist development throughout the industry.
